Childhood Memories

Childhood Memories, Mixed media: rice paper and acrylic on canvas. 22 x 28 in. At age twelve when my family and I drove out west from Pittsburgh,  I saw the foothills of the Rockies and then the Rockies  for the first time. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! Since I wasn't permitted to hike them, nor could I eat them, I was compelled to draw them. Since then I have been able to hike hills and mountains and view wildflowers along the way. This painting is a compilation of my memories then and now and leaves me feeling wistful.
