Sedona Vortex. Acrylic, 18 x 24 inches. Traveling to Sedona, Arizona,  in early spring and hiking in this beautifully strange, "red rock" country, I discovered a few of the four main energy vortexes there--this butte viewed from the Boynton Vista Trail in the Coconino National Forest. Excerpted from a map along the trail, "Sedona has long been known as a spiritual power center because of the vortexes of subtle energy located in the area. These vortexes are swirling centers of subtle energy coming out from the surface of the earth." Sedona in its entirety inspired me--not one particular view. However, climbing where the wind was strong, the air cool, and the view spectacular, I was compelled to paint this.
